One thousand two hundred and sixty days: 1290, 1335, 2300 days?

one thousand two hundred and sixty daysOne thousand two hundred and sixty days (Rev. 11:3; 12:6) is the time God’s two witnesses prophesy and “Lady Zion” representing the church is nourished in the wilderness. The similar time designation associates the two, perhaps part of the nourishment is the preaching of the two witnesses.

For “Forty-two months” the holy city is trampled and the Beast has authority (Rev. 11:2; 13:5). The same time designation doesn’t imply the same months. For 42 months the holy city is trampled, then the Beast ascends to rule forty-two weeks. The same time designation because the same satanic energy characterizing the trampling of the temple, is found in the rule of the Beast.

The same time designation “time and times and half a time” in (Dan. 7:25; 12:7; Rev. 12:14) links “saints…given into his hands” with “power of the holy people…completely shattered” and “woman flying into wilderness to be nourished,” i.e., persecution of “Lady Zion” representing the church.

In Revelation 12:6 the woman is fed in the wilderness one thousand two hundred and sixty days, but referring to the same event in Revelation 12:14 its “time and times and half a time” in (Rev. 12:14). These are to be combined. The 3 ½ years alludes to the persecution by the Beast (Dan. 7:25; 12:7), while the “1,260 days” alludes to the time God’s two witnesses preach (Rev. 11:1-6). “Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint” (Isa. 40:31 WEB). The preaching of the two witnesses and God’s power are given “that she might fly into the wilderness” protected for a time and times and half a time, 3 ½ years.

The Beast slays God’s two witnesses when he ascends from the abyss (Rev. 11:7). Then he rules for 42 months (Rev. 13:5) so these events occur during a seven year period.

While these times may be symbolic, I think they are close to actual times. We cannot know the day or hour our LORD returns (Mat. 24:36), but these are different events.

The end time week begins when the False Christ is accepted into the apostate church condoning sin (2 Thess. 2:3-4), the apostasy removing Christendom’s “daily” sacrifices and offerings to God (Dan. 12:7, 11). Multiple events happen at one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Moses and Elijah are slain when the man of sin morphs into the Beast Son of Destruction Antichrist opposing the very definition of God declaring his hybrid nature above all the “Elohim Designers” which in “Scientific Atheism” means he denies the Father and the Son like a true Antichrist. Thus he ends all religious worship at one thousand two hundred and sixty days or 42 months (Rev. 13:5) ending all other sacrifices to God worldwide (Dan. 9:27).

Evidently the Antichrist requires 30 days to set up his 666 idolatrous membership only economy, 1290-1260=30. Then for 45 days of the great tribulation believers are martyred. Blessed is he who endures to the end the church’s trial to 1,335 days (Dan. 12:11-12) for they will be raptured (Dan. 12:1-2 a, Mat. 24:13; 1 Cor. 15:52; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 14:14-16). Rev. 14:13 extends the open door policy to include any new believers who convert after the rapture, up until the very end time of Christ’s arrival with His holy myriads (Mat. 25:31-33) and those who participated in the first resurrection/rapture/gathering (1 Thess. 4:14; 2 Thess. 2:1; Rev. 20:4-6).

Its possible the seven year end time week be “shortened” lest no flesh be saved (Mat. 24:22; Mark 13:20). However, any shortening cannot eliminate predicted events. Seven symbolic years is 2,520 days long, but the angel told Daniel the church’s faith in God and His promises would be justified at 2,300 days. The usual translation of Dan. 8:14 “sanctuary will be cleansed” is chosen over a more likely meaning, “will be vindicated” because translators refuse to allow prophecy be actual foretelling of events. Rather than accepting the text as it reads, note the rush to emend the text:

will be purified. The Hebrew verb, weniṣdaq (the only occurrence of the niphal of ṣdq in the MT!) should mean “will be justified.” But this can hardly be said of the sanctuary. The underlying Aramaic was surely yidkê, “will be cleansed, purified,” which was corrupted into, or misread by the translator as yizkê, “will be victorious, justified.”- Hartman, L. F., & Di Lella, A. A. (2008). The Book Of Daniel: A New Translation With Notes And Commentary On Chapters 1-9 (Vol. 23, p. 227). New Haven; London: Yale University Press.

It is NOT unhistorical the “Temple of God” in prophecy has gained additional meaning in the End-Time when things have changed (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19. 2 Cor. 6:16. 2 Thess. 2:4. Eph. 2:21).

Daniel is said to have “an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas” (Dan. 5:11-12, 14; 1:17, 19-20). Yet he is perplexed by this prophecy (Dan. 12:8) and is told the “words are sealed till the time of the end” (Dan. 12:9). It follows the words gained additional meaning they didn’t have in Daniels day, causing his confusion. He would hear the “power of the holy has been completely shattered” but was’t seeing in the vision oppressed Jews with their priests. Perhaps he saw the church of both Jews and Gentiles and it confused him. The “temple of God” wasn’t a literal temple but an assembly of believers. The “daily sacrifice” didn’t employ the Temple priesthood of Levites (1 Pet. 2:5) and sacrificial lambs. Then Daniel’s confusion and how the words are unsealed in the end time are easily understood, the words had New Covenant meaning that didn’t exist in Daniels time. It is after all, a prophecy that occurs during the New Covenant, at the end when Christ the LORD appears as conquering King.

Returning to the symbolic time segments in this prophecy, Daniel 8:14 begins at the end time week. This is when Michael will appear to gather all those who missed the Rapture (Dan. 12:1-2), the entire church of God will be justified (Rev. 15:1-5). Then the Bowl judgments begin (Rev. 15:6-8). So the war between God and Satan spans 2,520-2300=220 days, 7.333 months.

Recall no one can know the day or hour when Christ comes(Mat. 24:36). But Christ did say when all things are seen, then we know He is near at the doors (Mt. 24:33). I do believe they correspond to the actual, that after all is fulfilled we will marvel how precise these predictions are.
