One thousand two hundred and sixty days: 1290, 1335, 2300 days?

one thousand two hundred and sixty daysOne thousand two hundred and sixty days (1,260 days = Rev. 12:14 “time and times and half a time”; Rev. 11:2, 3 “Forty two months”) is meant to recall the time when the two witnesses are prophesying, hence the count begins at the beginning of the eschatological week and not the second half. The Beast slays the two witnesses and persecutes the church from midpoint onward (Dan. 7:25; 9:27; 12:7) reigning as the Big Mouth of the Beastly Confederacy of Satan for forty two months (Rev. 13:5).

Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. (Rev. 12:6 NKJ)

While these times may be symbolic, I believe them close to the actual timing. We cannot know the day or hour our LORD returns (Mat. 24:36), but these are different events. The end time week begins when the False Christ is accepted into the apostate church condoning sin (2 Thess. 2:3-4), the apostasy removing Christendom’s “daily” sacrifices and offerings to God (Dan. 12:7, 11). Multiple events happen at one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Moses and Elijah are slain when the man of sin morphs into the Beast Son of Destruction Antichrist opposing the very definition of God declaring his hybrid nature above all the “Elohim Designers” which in “Scientific Atheism” means he denies the Father and the Son like a true Antichrist. Thus he ends all religious worship at one thousand two hundred and sixty days or 42 months (Rev. 13:5) ending all other sacrifices to God worldwide (Dan. 9:27).

Evidently the Antichrist requires 30 days to set up his 666 idolatrous membership only economy, 1290-1260=30. Then for 45 days of the great tribulation believers are martyred. Blessed is he who endures to the end the church’s trial to 1,335 days (Dan. 12:11-12) for they will be raptured (Dan. 12:1-2 a, Mat. 24:13; 1 Cor. 15:52; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 14:14-16). Rev. 14:13 extends the open door policy to include any new believers who convert after the rapture, up until the very end time of Christ’s arrival with His holy myriads (Mat. 25:31-33) and those who participated in the first resurrection/rapture/gathering (1 Thess. 4:14; 2 Thess. 2:1; Rev. 20:4-6).

Although I believe these dates are close to the actual, its possible the seven year end time week be “shortened” lest no flesh be saved (Mat. 24:22; Mark 13:20). Seven symbolic years is 2,520 days long, but the angel told Daniel the church’s faith in God and His promises would be justified at 2,300 days. The usual translation of Dan. 8:14 “sanctuary will be cleansed” is chosen over a more likely meaning, “will be vindicated” because translators refuse to allow prophecy be actual foretelling of events. Rather than accepting the text as it reads, note the rush to emend the text:

will be purified. The Hebrew verb, weniṣdaq (the only occurrence of the niphal of ṣdq in the MT!) should mean “will be justified.” But this can hardly be said of the sanctuary. The underlying Aramaic was surely yidkê, “will be cleansed, purified,” which was corrupted into, or misread by the translator as yizkê, “will be victorious, justified.”- Hartman, L. F., & Di Lella, A. A. (2008). The Book Of Daniel: A New Translation With Notes And Commentary On Chapters 1-9 (Vol. 23, p. 227). New Haven; London: Yale University Press.

As it is the angel of God dictating the wording it is NOT unhistorical the “Temple of God” be interpreted consistent with the time the prophecy will be fulfilled (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16; 2 Thess. 2:4; Eph. 2:21).

Consider, God the Holy Spirit gave Daniel insight into the most perplexing prophetic images (Dan. 5:12; 6:3). So Daniel’s confusion about this prophecy is unexpected, likely has a cause in some discordance between what the Spirit in him (1 Pet. 1:11) was indicating and familiar terms now being given hitherto unknown applications. A “temple of God” that actually wasn’t a temple but an assembly of believers; A “daily sacrifice” that didn’t employ the Temple cultus. A priesthood not composed of Levites (1 Pet. 2:5). Therefore, the argument it is unhistorical to say this Temple of God is the church in the end time, in a prophecy concerning the end time, is unsound. The text is so “out of Daniel’s historical context” that he didn’t understand it (Dan. 8:27 cp. 12:8), which he would have if the argument were sound.

Returning to the symbolic time segments in this prophecy, although I believe they are close to actual, Daniel 8:14 begins at the end time week. This is when Michael will appear to gather all those who missed the Rapture (Dan. 12:1-2), the entire church of God will be justified (Rev. 15:1-5). Then the Bowl judgments begin (Rev. 15:6-8). So the war between God and Satan spans 2,520-2300=220 days, 7.333 months.

Recall no one can know the day or hour when Christ comes(Mat. 24:36), but these dates concern other events. I do believe they correspond to the actual, that after all is done we will marvel how accurate these predictions were.
