The Bible teaches that only God has the power to give life to the dead (Deut. 32:39; 1 Sam. 2:6; 2 Kings 5:7; Acts 26:8; 2 Cor. 1:9; Heb. 11:19), and the Old Testament records several instances where He did so (1 Kings 17:17–24; 2 Kings 4:32–37; 13:20–21). Because His power is the same as the Father, Jesus Christ is able to raise the physically dead (11:25–44; Matt. 9:18–25; Luke 7:11–15; cf. John 6:39–40, 44). Moreover, He has the power to give spiritual life to the spiritually dead. “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him,” Jesus promised, “shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life” (4:14). In John 6 He admonished His hearers, “Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you,” because He is “the bread of God … which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world” (vv. 27, 33; cf. vv. 35, 48, 54; 1:4; 10:28; 11:25; 14:6; 17:2).
Unlike Elijah (1 Kings 17:22) and Elisha (2 Kings 4:34–35), Jesus did not merely act as God’s representative when He raised the dead, but as God Himself. The Key question to answer, “when does the hour arrive?”. At judgment Day, 1000 years after the Millennial reign of Christ (Rev. 20:11-15). Or does scripture say the dead heard His voice before that time?

Another question to answer, “to hear” in this context signifies “obediently hearing, believing” (John 5:24-25) and this separates those who rise to life from those who rise to condemnation.

Its how these “in the grave” react to Christ’s voice they heard while in the grave that determines their fate:

But there are a number of examples in biblical and extra-biblical Greek where an aorist participle is used to refer to an action occurring after the action of the main verb. The soul within an Aborted fetus “wakes up in hades” (the unseen realm) in neither torment or bliss, fully grown up intellectually, having free will. “He” is in hades not because he  sinned but because he never became alive in Christ. As a descendant of Adam he remained “in a state of death”. Only what is alive can be in God’s presence:

Human beings are “born dead spiritually”, they remain dead until belief in Christ, then they become alive:

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Cor. 15:22 NKJ)

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (Jn. 5:24 NKJ)

Therefore, the aborted fetus cannot enter heaven (or the upper level of sheol, paradise, third heaven) because it is dead. What is dead descends into a  part of Hades that is “NEUTRAL”, to be judged. It is appointed all in Adam (still dead, not saved) die and then they are judged:

Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment, (Heb. 9:27 RPTE)

The Gospel is preached to the dead so they can believe the gospel and choose to live according to God:

For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (1 Pet. 4:6 NKJ)

Those who choose to live according to God are then “enveloped by the Holy Spirit” and live in a “state of sleeplike bliss” “eagerly waiting” for Christ’s second appearing when the “first resurrection” “rapture” “gathering” “rising with the church” AT Christ’s Second Coming salvation from Hades:

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation. (Heb. 9:28 RPTE)

During their “Judgment” it was determined “those who believe the Gospel of Christ preached to them” are among “the many” Christ was offered to bear the sins for. But they cannot cross over from Hades (Lk. 16 :26) to paradise where the redeemed are with Abraham. They have to wait in the “neutral part” of Hades until Christ’s second coming, THEN the dead in Christ rise to meet Him in the air:

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4:16-17 NKJ)

 

What about those in the upper level of Sheol/Hades/Unseen Realm, in “third heaven/paradise/Abraham’s bosom” with Abraham and Lazarus? What of their souls? When Christ begins His second coming, He brings them with Him as He descends:

 13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

During Christ’s parousia (“coming”) those He brough with Him and the dead in Him in Hades, rise in supernatural bodies like Christ’s. They are changed in a “twinkling of an eye”, reunited with their glorious resurrection body that is infused with life, immortality, power like the resurrection body of Christ:

Although this conclusion of lower intelligence was later disputed, no evidence came forth to disprove the original conclusion.

Satan has the power to produce semi-intelligent life forms. During the Exodus when God sent Moses to command the children of Israel be freed, God caused Aaron’s rod to become a serpent to prove Moses was under His command. However, Satan was able to duplicate that miracle, transforming plant life into reptilian life which caused Pharoah to harden his heart and refuse to let them go:

9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying,`Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron,`Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.'”

Just as God chose a miracle be done before Pharoah that He knew Satan could duplicate—thus “sending Pharoah the strong delusion” resistance was possible (Ex. 9:12-16), so also God removes all restraint on Satan’s power so he will successfully deceive the Earth “ancient alien theory” is true.

All who reject the truth of the Bible taking pleasure in unrighteousness will be deceived (2 Thess. 2:9-12). God lets them have what they chose. He stops restraining anything that would prevent their filling up the full measure of their sin lest their punishment be less than they deserve.

Tares will outnumber the Wheat in the End Time (Matt. 13:24-30). Paul (1 Tim. 4:1–3; 2 Tim. 3:1–5; 4:3–4) and the other apostles (2 Peter 2:1; 3:3; Jude 1:18; 1 John 2:18-19; 4:3-6) warned about this end time apostasy, churches so lawless they receive “the Lawless One” “Man of Sin” (man who condones sin) as “the Christ”. That apostasy “takes away the daily sacrifice” to the true Christ starting the “end-time seven year “week” (Dan. 12:11; Rev. 6:2).

Lawless apostate churches refuse to teach the sound doctrine of the apostles:

[002] God’s Restraint on Satanic Deception Removed 2 Thess. 2:6-7

6 And now you know what is restraining (κατέχον), that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains (κατέχων) will do so until He is taken out of the way. (2 Thess. 2:6-7 NKJ)

The “mystery” (3466 μυστήριον musterion) or “secret power” (NIV) of lawlessness is “the working (1753 ἐνέργεια energeia) of Satan” that was already inspiring belief in falsehood through evil “spirit…word…letter” (2 Thess. 2:2) shaking the faith of Thessalonians “the resurrection is already past” (2 Tim. 2:18), and the Church was raptured (1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:51-52) leaving them behind.

Only God can restrain “Satanic energy that inspires lawlessness” i.e., “spiritism”. Some are confused about that because the “(thing) restraining” (neuter) has gender in verse 7 the “(one) restraining”. How can God be “taken out of the way”? Elementary, God’s decree (δόγμα) is the “thing” restraining Satanic power. When this ordinance is lifted (compare: ἐκ τοῦ μέσου Col. 2:14 BGT), “out of [the] midst he be [gone]”-Interlinear Literal Translation of the Greek New Testament, Thomas Newberry.
The Katechon Restrainer of the Mystery of Lawlessness: Who is He?

As Satan and Nephilim haven’t appeared physically on earth since the flood of Noah’s Day (Rev. 12:4; Gen. 3:1-5; 6:4), one restraint has prevented the physical appearance of the Nephilim “Fallen Ones” on earth. But Jesus words here imply that restraint will be lifted, both the angelic sons of God and Satan’s “fallen Ones” the Nephilim took human wives (Gen. 6:2, 4):

26 “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 “They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. (Lk. 17:26-27 NKJ)

The restraint on Satanic energy is in stages, revealed in the book of Revelation and is a consequence of Christendom’s apostasy from God’s Law (Th. 2:11-12). A judgment the apostate Tares reveal themselves within the seven-year time allotted for the End Time “week”.

First evil spirits are released from the abyss prison (Rev. 9:1-3); Second the symbolic Euphrates removed as a dimensional barrier into Israel and therefore the Earth. Demons enter this realm (Rev. 9:14-16; 16:12). Third Michael and his angels cast Satan and angels out of heaven and the context emphasizes they are “no place… in heaven; cast to the earth; has been cast down; has come down to you; cast to the earth.” They being “cast to the earth” the precise reason given for this even causing “Woe to the inhabitants of the earth” (Rev. 12:7-13). That exegesis fits prophetic texts which depict angelic warfare in the skies and on earth (Jdg. 5:20; 2 Ki. 19:35; 2 Chron. 32:21; Dan. 10:13, 20) in the end time (Isa. 24:21; 34:4; Dan. 8:10; 9:27; 11:38-39).

Growing in popularity is Ancient Alien Theory which claims God and the angels are extraterrestrial beings. That also is the preaching of demonic spirits inspiring dreams and visions of “UFO Experiencers”. The “trans dimensional beings” claim to be the “Elohim”, designers of life on earth”. The most likely cause of the end-time global rebellion against all called God or worshiped would be a “UFO invasion.” It would change historic concepts of God, changing “times and law” (Dan. 7:25; 2 Thess. 2:3-4). From the symbolism of Revelation 16:13-16 it would appear Ancient Alien Theory (flying frogs) will be the demonically inspired “Big Lie” that deceives the earth to fight God at Armageddon (2 Thess. 2:9-12; Rev. 16:13-14, 16).

[003] First Seal: Rider on White Horse False Christ (aka Man of Sin; Lawless One) Matt. 24:4-5; Rev. 6:2; 2 Thess. 2:3, 8

1 Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.”
2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. (Rev. 6:1-2 NKJ)

In the first four seals (Rev. 6:1, 3, 5, 7) the KJV reads “come and see”. A living creature is commanding John to “come and see” what happens on earth through a viewer. Modern Bibles delete “and see” changing the interpretation to the horsemen being commanded to “come” forth presumably from heaven. But the four demon riders are not from heaven as 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 makes clear, the first rider is the “Lawless One” and he is a spawned by Satanic energy that had its restraint taken out of the way. That is confirmed in Daniel 8:24 “his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power” and by a foreign god in Daniel 11:38-39. The “foreign god” is the Dragon Satan disguised as an Extraterrestrial Commander of a UFO fleet. The earth in globalist ecstasy willingly created the Grecian Roman Empire Beast and anoint the Man of Sin False Christ as its first “Chancellor” on the command of the Dragon.

The false Christ “mouth of a lion” (Rev. 13:2) “man of sin” (2 Thess. 2:3) “prince” (Dan. 9:26) covenants with the world’s religions the first half (Dan. 9:27) of the end time week. Perhaps giving them time to accept His claim to be Christ. The Rider’s bow has no arrows because Satan crowns him (Rev. 13:2, 4; Dan. 8:24), the earth in globalist ecstasy willingly submit to the New World Order under the False Christ. He keeps on conquering until Armageddon, and cast into the lake of fire (Rev. 19:19-20).

[004] Daily Sacrifice to Christ ends when Church receives “Man of Sin” as “The Christ”. Dan. 12:11; 2 Thess. 2:3-4

Our LORD Jesus Christ prayed “(whoever reads, let him understand)” (Matt. 24:15 NKJ) because He knew the “Temple of God” and “Daily Sacrifice” in the End Time would not be found in Christ rejecting Judaism. If it were, Daniel would have understood these words clearly. But he could not because “Temple of God” and “Daily Sacrifice” and “Abomination of Desolation” have new meaning in the New Covenant of Christ’s blood. The “saints” now include the greater “Israel of God” (Gal. 6:15-16), Jew and Gentile descendants of Abraham’s seed (Gal. 3:27-29). The Temple priesthood and Daily Sacrifice are in the Christian Church. The Church is the Temple of God (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16; Eph. 2:21), Christians its priests (1 Pet. 2:5). We offer up “the Daily Sacrifice” (1 Pet. 2:5; Rom. 12:1; Lk. 9:23; Heb. 13:15).

The New Testament church has the “holy priesthood, to offer up “spiritual sacrifices” (πνευματικὰς θυσίας) acceptable to God” (1 Pet. 2:5). Christians “offer (399 ἀναφέρω anaphero) sacrifice (2378 θυσία thusia)” to God, the same word used in the Greek Septuagint to offer (399 ἀναφέρω anaphero) the “daily” (08548 תָּמִיד tamiyd) 1 Ch. 16:40; 23:31; 2 Ch. 2:3; 24:14 in the Hebrew version.

The Christian daily sacrifice is offered “continually” (1275 διαπαντός) to God. In Hebrews 13:1-17 the ethical exhortations being an expansion of the acceptable duties priests offer God daily (Heb. 12:28 λατρεύωμεν εὐαρέστως τῷ θεῷ).

Christ is our perpetual sacrifice for sin (Heb. 10:11-18), the daily sacrifice to Him is our “taking up the cross daily”. The “apostasy” or “revolt” that “takes away” (Dan. 12:11 05493 סוּר cuwr; 868 ἀφίστημι) the sacrifice is receiving the false Christ man of sin as “the Christ”. Then the end time “week” of seven-years begins.

At 1,260 days the “false Christ” “Man of Sin” morphs into the seed of Satan (Gen. 3:15) “Son of Destruction” (2 Thess. 2:3-4) pompous mouth (Rev. 13:5) blaspheming God and His holy angels. Then a quantum computing network in his image begins enforcing the 666 mark membership only economy. It required an additional 30 days for that “abomination that causes desolation” to be set up; 30 days + 1,260 days (42 months; 3 ½ years) equal 1,290 days.

That’s when the Great Tribulation for the Church ramps up, as they refuse to accept the Mark of the Beast they are slaughtered (Rev. 14:12-13).

The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. (Rev. 8:7 NKJ)

What happened to “shorter reading is better?” New Bibles add “and a third of the earth was burned up”, which creates a contradiction. If a third is burned up at the first Trumpet, where did the 2/3rds come from in the next two Trumpets? Best we stick with the KJV & NKJ “Majority Text” of the Greek NT and not let a scribal addition reproduced in a tiny stream of inferior texts lead us astray.

The first three Trumpets kill Christendom completely, 1/3rd at a time. This hail kills a third of Trees/leaders in Christendom, and all the grass/followers living under their shade.

When literal hail and fire struck ancient Egypt (Ex. 9:23-26) it destroyed trees and grass. The “signification” of hail and fire mingled with blood is striking an apostate church having bloodguilt (2 Th. 2:3). In the opening scene an angel takes fire from God’s altar and casts it to the earth, signifying this is a judgment of God against an apostate church. Recompense for sin against God’s saints (Rev. 6:9-11). Jesus predicted apostates would betray believers to the Beast (Mt. 24:9-10). This is the wrath of God, unlike Revelation 11:19 where the hail remains in heaven, this hail is unleashed on the apostates (Ps. 78:47; Hag. 2:17). Fire (Rev. 1:5) and blood (Rev. 16:6) signify God’s judgment is the apostates die eternally.

In this context the wilderness is not a place of deprivation, it’s a place of refuge where God is experienced (Rev. 12:14; 1 Ki. 19:4; Num. 14:22; Deut. 2:7; 32:10; Ps. 68:7). As the true church exists in the midst of Christendom and its apostate TARES, fleeing to the wilderness signifies separation from the apostates. While they are trampling the outer courtyard, Christians remain holy and obedient to God worshipping Him at His altar:

1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.

The Holy Spirit will be poured out on the church worshipping God at His altar. The two witness are called the “two olive trees” for that is the source of the oil (signifying the Holy Spirit) burning in the Lamps lighting up the world with God’s light (Zech. 4:1-14). [013] Seal Two: Rider on Red Horse Wars & Rumors of wars; People hate each other for differences of opinion Matt. 24:6-7; Rev. 6:3-4

3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.”
4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword. (Rev. 6:3-4 NKJ)

Fiery red signifies bloodshed because of the fires of war. The sword given to him is “great” because it causes widespread bloodshed whether in civil or international conflict. People hate and kill each other for differences in opinion.

There are four living creatures before the throne of God, each a different viewer and they beckon to John “Come and see” through their viewer what Satan strategically sends out onto the earth (Rev. 6:1, 3, 5, 7). God is not sending these demon riders, Satan is. Its strategic, by overwhelming the earth with war, famine and plague the earth will cry out for a Savior, the False Christ and then the Dragon and his promise of global peace and safety (1 Thess. 5:3).

“A crisis is a terrible thing to waste” evil men say, and Satan won’t waste the extinction level crises he caused by sending war, famine and pestilence overwhelming the earth’s governments. Death rides into town on his sickly horse and Pestilence kills a fourth of the population, filling up Hades trailing behind him.

Some (Charles; Moffatt) make the case “Death (2288 θάνατος thanatos)” should be rendered “Pestilence” given the context and its appearance in the LXX translating the Hebrew (01698 דֶּבֶר deber) over thirty times. The rider’s horse is “pale, a sickly looking horse. Most versions translate the second appearance of thanatos as “pestilence” or “plague”.

Pestilence is the common denominator, arising from war, famine, pestilence and by beasts of the earth such as rats:

[018] “Ancient Alien Theory” is the inspired “Big Lie:” that is used to unite the world against Christ at Armageddon Rev. 16:13-16.

Bible prophecy reveals the blasphemy against God pertain to His Name, His dwelling and His hosts (Rev. 13:6). Insulting the reasons Yahweh alone is God is blasphemy against His Name, and simultaneously insults the uniqueness of His dwelling. However, for an insult that can blaspheme all three must pertain to the nature of God’s hosts the Elohim; God and His Sons. Ancient Alien Theory does precisely that when it claims God and angels are an extraterrestrial race of finite beings. That insults all three.

Confirming the blasphemy insults the nature of God are Paul words in 2 Thessalonians 2:4, that the Beast “opposes and exalts himself above all called God…showing himself that he is God.” He “opposes” the historic definition of God and exalts himself as having a nature above what is called Elohim. In other words, the Beast at mid-week reveals he is the “Son of Destruction” hybrid human and “seed of Satan” (Gen. 3:15) who in nature is therefore superior to all Elohim, including Yahweh God and His angels. In a twinkling of an eye they will be raised up incorruptible (1 Corinthians 15:51-58).

AFTER the Tribulation of those days, while the bowls of God’s wrath are still being poured out, the “sign of Christ’s presence” will light up the sky worldwide, and Christ will send forth His angels to gather His elect who missed the rapture (Mt. 24:21-31; Lk. 17:26-37; Mk. 13:24-27). Then brings all of them with Him as He arrives with His Holy Myriads (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18) to war against the Beast at Armageddon (Ps. 110:3; Rev. 19:13-21).

In both cases, those left behind are likened to those who died by the Flood of Noah’s Day, or fire in Sodom. All left behind become food for carrion birds (Rev. 19:17-18) or some other calamity. Its odd how few connect the dots, in these parallels Christ emphasizes the destruction of those not saved, so when asked “where LORD” His answer isn’t about the taken, only those left behind.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (Rev. 13:18 KJV)

Many insist we use Gematria (substituting letters for numbers) to solve the riddle of 666 meaning, although they cannot point to any undisputed[1] examples of its use elsewhere in Scripture. How can we decide this issue?

John states wisdom is required to solve the riddle.[2] If  Gematria revealed the name whose number is 666, it would be wise to use that method. However,  Gematria results in too many possible names. Therefore, as John states wisdom is required Gematria is ruled out as a way to solve the riddle.

What is a riddle? “A question or statement intentionally phrased so as to require ingenuity in ascertaining its answer or meaning, typically presented as a game.”-Oxford Languages

John gamely invites all “that hath understanding count the number”. It follows solving the riddle depends on how the text is phrased.

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Rev. 13:18 NKJ)

the sons of Adonikam, 667 (Neh. 7:18 NAS)

John gives three clues how 666 points to one name.
1) “Calculate the number” (666+1=667 Adonikam).
2) “Number OF a man” (666 sons are “OF” the man Adonikam)
3) “His number is 666” (Only one name Adonikam is associated with the number 666 )

John wasn’t like modern critics, he would consider the difference (666 in Ezra 2:13; 667 in Nehemiah 7:18) in number intentional. Experts in Hebrew Scripture will immediately recognize John’s riddle is a asymmetric Janus Parallelism(Gen. 6:3; 49:26; Cant. 2:12; Ezek. 20:37; Dan. 11:35; Nah. 1:8.)

Adonikam had 666 sons or counting from his father also named Adonikam, 667 sons.

From the “Janus” 666 we look back and “count” (5585 ψηφίζω psephizo) “as with pebbles” 666+1=667 to “Adonikam” as the Beast’s name.

From the “Janus” 666 we look forward, Adonikam had 666 sons, they are “of” him. Again the name Adonikam appears.

“His [Adonikam] number is 666.” The only name in the Bible closely associated with 666 is “Adonikam”.

Therefore, solution to John’s riddle is “Adonikam“.

Hebrew Scholar Cyrus Gordon discovered ancient Hebrews used parallelism to communicate meaning, today called Janus Parallelism. Examples can be found in Gen. 6:3; 49:26; Cant. 2:12; Ezek. 20:37; Dan. 11:35; Nah. 1:8; Mat. 16:18.

Janus Parallelism. This type of parallelism hinges on the use of a single word with two different meanings, one of which forms a parallel with what precedes and the other with what follows. Thus, by virtue of a double entendre, the parallelism faces in both directions. Berlin, A. (1992). Parallelism. In D. N. Freedman (Ed.), The Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary (Vol. 5, p. 157). Professor of Theology in Berlin E. W. Engstenberg says in his Revelation of St. John commentary:

Our business is first to discover the name of the beast which furnishes the number 666. And here we must not wander about after our own imaginations. The Seer of the Apocalypse lives entirely in holy Scripture. On this territory, therefore, is the solution of the sacred riddle to be sought. And there also it can be found with perfect certainty. In the whole of the Old Testament there is but one instance in which the number 666 occurs in connection with a name. It is said in Ezra 2:13, “The sons of Adonikam 666.” The name Adonikam must therefore be the name of the beast. It was admirably fitted for being so. It means: the Lord arises,* and is in excellent agreement with the watch-word of the worshippers of the beast: “Who is like the beast, and who is able to make war with him?” It combines all, that in the preceding description had been said to characterize the beast. It is a name of blasphemy; it corresponds to the mouth speaking great things; it accords admirably with the demand upon all the inhabitants of the earth to worship the beast. It points to the war against the saints, and the carrying away of these into captivity, and killing them with the sword. It also perfectly agrees with the description, which St. Paul, in 2 Thess. 2:4, gives of the man of sin: “Who opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he, as God, sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The Lord arises—this name originally consecrated to the true God, and derived from the songs of the church, that celebrate him as the Almighty Being, who rises to avenge his enemies, the beast appropriates to himself, as his adherents had already in ver. 4 claimed for him the name Michael. By this reference of the name to its original destination, its blasphemous character is heightened; q.d. not that one, the miserable product of the vain imaginations and arrogant claims of his wretched worshippers, it is not he who is the Lord, but I, whose omnipotence is palpable to all; it is not he, who arises to help his poor worshippers, and execute vengeance on his enemies, but I that arise to extinguish those wretched saints with their crucified One and their God. Besides, the name Adonikam in its original reference to the living God reacts against the claim, as also the number 666, according to what is presently to be remarked, at once indicates the claim, and marks its presumptuous and shameful character.

אדוך without the article is used of the Lord in Ps. 114:7. The Jod is commonly in the proper names a connective vowel, and not the suffix—see Ewald, p. 499, Anm. 2. So also in other proper names, which are compounded of Adon: Adoniram (Jehoram corresponds), the high lord, a designation of him, to whom the bearer of the name was devoted, as so many similar names—for example, Eliah, God-father, Joab, Joel, Jehoshua; Adonijah, the Lord is Jehovah (not my Lord). The קִום is used of the Lord, who rises up to the help of his people, and for vengeance on his enemies; comp. קִימה יהוה in Ps. 3:7, 7:6, 9:19, 10:12; also Ps. 12:5, 44:26, 68:1. The name took its rise from these passages of the Psalms; as indeed it was very natural that the Psalms, whose words were continually sounding in the ears of the Lord’s people, should especially exercise an important influence in the formation of names. A reference is found to those passages even in Is. 33:10. The name Asrikam is formed in the same way; the help (the Lord as helper) rises up, resting on Ps. 44:2.—We must take the name Adonikam in no other signification than that in which it occurs in the fundamental passages; not, for example, with Vitringa in the sense of the Lord’s enemy; which is also grammatically inadmissible.-Hengstenberg, E. QUESTION—What person is indicated by the number 666?

It may refer to the trinity composed of Satan, the antichrist, and the false prophet. Each have the number 6 symbolizing that they each fall short of divinity whose number is seven [Hu]. All other commentaries consulted simply listed the possibilities that have been suggested by authorities, but none committed themselves to a definite answer.-Trail, R. (2008). 666 is none of those things. Rather, the great revolt against all called God (2 Thess. 2:3-4) prophesied in Daniel and Revelation make 666 the likely “flag” of the revolt against YHWH, similar to the Swastika to Nazis. Sporting the mark to proclaim one’s allegiance to Beast Adonikam merits ETERNAL punishment (Rev. 14:9-12). John also reveals it is mandatory one have the mark to buy and sell (Rev. 13:16-17).

A friend asked, “wouldn’t the Antichrist change his name from Adonikam to hide his identity?” That would not be consistent with the character of the “little horn” who is so boastful against God (Dan. 7:8, 11, 20, 25; 8:9-11, 23-25; 11:36-37; 2 Thess. 2:4; Rev. 13:5-6). Its more likely, if Adonikam isn’t his birth name, that he would change it to “Adonikam” to boast he fulfills the prophecy of the Antichrist.

 

Beast worshipers will celebrate it…until they don’t. Notice the subtle change, men go from boldly blaspheming “the name of God”, to grudgingly conceding His power as “the God of heaven”. This happens after the fifth bowl, when YHWH God strikes the seat of the beast with darkness causing them to gnaw their tongues for pain (Rev. 16:9-11). They became so weak at the knees upon experiencing God’s awesome power a fresh dose of demonic propaganda was necessary to restore courage (Rev. 16:12-14).

Another interesting riddle is Samson’s riddle, it reveals a blueprint for solving Biblical riddles. An important clue is the double meaning of the words “lion” and “honey” in the language of Samson and the Philistines:

The Riddle:

So he said to them: “Out of the eater came something to eat, And out of the strong came something sweet.” Now for three days they could not explain the riddle. (Jdg. 14:14) NKJ

“Eater” in Hebrew can be a man, beast or insect that “devours with extreme violence” (0398 אָכַל ‘akal Num. 23:24; 1 Ki. 13:28). As the “eater” is “strong” (05794 עַז `az) “mighty, fierce” the image of lion naturally arises. Confirming this describes a lion is the irony of taking food from the lion’s mouth, a definite clue.

As for “sweet” honey naturally comes to mind (Jdg. 14:18).

The “lion/honey” homonym is what made this a valid riddle. Notice these points are present in the answer the Philistines gave to Samson:

What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? (Jdg. 14:18)

Many commentators object the riddle was unfair, but the context contradicts that claim. They wouldn’t have wasted three days trying to solve it, or by the seventh day threaten the bride’s family if they could have simply objected it wasn’t a fair riddle (Jdg. 14:14-15). Their answer in Judges 14:18 implies they considered it fair, the answer a valid result of the clues in the riddle.

What likely prevented the Philistines from solving the riddle was the presence of many possible “strong eaters” and “sweets” at the feast. That would misdirect their attention away from the solution.

They broke the first rule for solving riddles, thinking outside of the box is a must.. It is likely John’s choice of “count” (ψηφίζω) is intended to “misdirect” the uninitiated to the wrong solution. If so, it worked fabulously well. Those in the habit of seeking solution to enigma outside of scripture took the bait with Gematria, as they often do appealing to apocrypha and pseudepigrapha rather than seeking the answer in scripture critically thinking on the context.

Jesus is the subject, “carrying away into Babylon unto Christ” does not point to David without circular reasoning, eisegesis which contradicts the theory.
